Christmas table runner?

I have the mittens buttonhole stitched to the background and I am now thinking about the quilting. I will outline stitch around the details on the applique mittens with matching thread. I am thinking of a simple meander around the background fabric between the mittens with that gold thread. What do you think?

I think the gold thread will look good, but knowing me, I would audition on a scrap the green, red and blue along with the gold and then determine which I liked best. Your quilts are wonderful and you are very knowledgeable so I am sure that what ever you decide on will be great.

sounds like a good quilting plan

I would echo stitch in a neutral (the gold of the material?) first, then meander the remaining material. I'm assuming the gold is the same as the gold in the fabric fine, but not a metallic. Cute!

Sounds like a great plan. The background is pretty busy, so the metallic meander is a good idea.

Can your quilting be made to connect some mittens with a 'string' effect. Maybe even use some floss to make the 'string' more visible on a number of pairs.

Umm I'm new to free motion quilting myself, but if you know how already then maybe you could do some mittens maybe 2 or 3 times bigger than the background mittens. Just an idea. I want to see this when it is done please. I been following it.

Whenever I have a specific item (the mittens), I like to do a couple rows of echo stitching to really set the item off. I think the gold thread would be good and would give a unifying look to the three mittens. But, if you are going to use a solid looking binding, I would probably use that color for the quilting.
