Churn Dash & 4-Squares

Good morning! Mathematicians Assemble!! I am attempting to put together a baby quilt using 4 patch blocks of charm squares & adding in a churn dash block every other block for a total of 12 block layout (3x4). The 4 patch finishes at 9.5” & I want to use a charm square as the center for the churn dash. Assuming I use (2) 1.75x5” for the strips along the sides of the center, what size do I need to cut the corner hst so the churn dash block finishes at 9.5” square also?? Thank you!

If you're using charm squares (5" square) for a 4-patch it will finish at 9", not 9.5".

Here's a chart for Churn Dash blocks.

If your two 1.75" strips sewn together end up 3" wide, your hst will also need to be trimmed to 3"
