Anyone have a recomendation for a circle ruler? I need something for a 6", 12" and a 16" circle. Thanks.

I have the one from Missouri Quilt Company and I like it. On the downside you will need to buy a small rotary cutter to use with it if you don't already have one. Here is the link:

(It only goes up to 10" )

Hi and welcome to the board. I use plates, pan lids, pans, glasses or cups, etc. for circles. They work well.

I too use things I find in my kitchen

That ruler would also be nice for hand quilting patterns

You can get a compass very economically with the school supplies. Will make an accurate circle up to 12 in. in diameter. I still have my compass and protracter form high school plane geometry. Very handy tools to have in quiltmaking.

Me too, plates, bowls, glasses jar lids, whatever is the right size.

I'm one of the kitchen users.

The lids on those Nestle refrigerated cookie dough tubs are 6 inches... hee hee hee!

Peckish 09-06-2011 08:04 PM

Darn it. Now I'm craving choc chip cookies.

I use plates, bowls and anything else that is round. I didn't even know they made a circle ruler.

If you don't have the right size items around the house, check out the scrapbooking section of Joann's or other craft store, or eBay. I got a set of several different size circle templates for a few dollars on eBay - I think the brand is Fiskars. They do come in handy.

I bought the Easy Circle Cut Ruler from Fabric Depot http://www.fabricdepot.com/index.php...id=120992Comes with the Cutter on sale for $14.00 Works wonderful.

If you want an inexpensive SMALL circle template, check out the office supply store. My plastic template sheet has 45 circles from 1/16th inch to 2 1/4 inches. I use it to audition fabrics and pictures. I did invest in a set of plastic circle templates from Ebay, but the largest was only 6". Remember coasters too for circle shapes. You could make your own templates from kitchen shapes and clear template Mylar.

You can also use cardboard cake plates.
