Circles

does anyone here have/use the circular sewing accessory to applique circles? I know each machine maker offers one specific to the brand - average cost $90, and Nancy's notions offers her universal type circle aid, then there's a old fashioned way of thumbtack taped onto bed of machine......

I have looked at a few youtubes and could make interesting tablerunners with this technique... Either arcs or circles, thread or applique, but wonder if buying the brand specific is the wisest.......opinions please!

I love mine; it's on my Janome 6600. It's not something I use all the time, but when I do, it's really a lot of fun. LOL. I sound like the "most interesting man in the world", don't I, except I am woman.

I have used mine for decorative stitching. Never thought to use it for applique...makes sense!

I have the generic one that Nancy's notions sells and it seems to work just fine--I can switch it between all my machines which is good since I can't get a brand specific one for the vintage machines.

I have used the accessory for my brand (Viking) at the shop. I was not impressed. My older Viking has an extension table with holes drilled every half inch for use with tacks. I really feel the thumbtack method works as well or better.

My Brother Laura Ashley model came with the circular sewing attachment and additional feet. But I haven't tried it yet. I also have a secondary device that will manually make circles for fabric and a different brand for paper products. They're pretty neat and easy to use.
