Circular quilts
 

How do I cut my backing and batting for circular quilt.... New quilter

Gosh! I can't say that I've ever made a circular quilt. But, I'd do just what I normally do. Lay it our and sandwich it using regular backing and them cut around it at least 2-3 inches from the edge of the top just to make sure that you have enough if it stretches during the quilting process.

i would lay the circular top on the square batt and backing. if you use a quiting frame, it can be mounted on that while still being square. after the quilting, the extra can be trimmed before binding. welcome to the board and be sure to show us a pic of your quilt :)

I haven't made a circular quilt but have made a large decagon. I sandwiched it with the batting and backing square then after quilting it I trimmed them down. That part wasn't difficult; binding it was. Good luck, and please show pics of your finished project.

I wouldn't cut the backing & batting. Just leave them square/rectangular then trim when you are done. If you have a scalloped edge quilt, you leave all 3 layers square, quilt, then cut the scallops thru all 3 layers.

I would not even trim the top to it's final circular shape if you haven't done so already. Just mark it so you know where the edge will be for your quilting. Trim everything after it's quilted...much easier. I've done hexagons that way.
