Circular sewing attachment
 

Do any of you have the circular sewing foot attachment. It looks really cool. I could see my self using it to make circles for quilts as well as quilting circles on blocks.
If you have one, do you like it and do you use it. Does it leave quite a hole in the fabric?

That looked really cool! I have that attachment for my singer....but honestly I've never used it. May be tempted to try it now!! I looked at the "pin" and it's about the size of the little lapel pins....shouldn't leave a hole.

Looked at the tutorial. looks like a great tool. A friend told me Sewing with Nancy had some tool that does circles also. Wonder if they are similar,

They are Very expensive pm for a cheaper plan.

I`ve also been eyeing it.Will buy one this summer want to do 2 inch in my avatar blocks as the quilting Gale

Does not leave a big hole but it does leave a hole. Pretty neat tool. Don't use it a lot but have used it. Didn't use it for quilt, used it making handbag.

I have one for my Bernina....whole goes away easily with a little help from my fingernail! My granddaughter uses it all the time...she is making a quilt with recycled denim sqs....just be sure to use a stabilizer under the decorative stitches

Up until Vikings latest circle attachment I would never invest in one. I had a thumb tack and pencil eraser and it did the same thing. But Vikings new one does so much more, like making flowers, etc. I had to get one

I have the circle attachment for my Bernina. It works great and came with the machine. I have the small one called Flower foot for my Singer that fits my Janome and Brother. I like the flower foot better. It wasn't expensive at all about $17. It is limited in the size circle it makes though.

If you want to quilt with it, wouldn't you have to be turning the whole quilt alot on a regular machine? Or is it only for the long arm?

I bought one with a coupon sale at my LQS. Don't use it as just plain measuring and putting a small old fashioned tack upside down and using painters tape to keep it in place was more accurate and easier to use. Yes, I did put an eraser on top of the pin to protect me.

With the pin I can choose funny distances that I want and not have to fit in the possibilities of the circular attachment.

Ladies quick tut on doing circles cheaply.
Placed one sided sticky stabiliser on back of the yellow.
Hobbs batting with a white backing.

Astrip with inches measured to use to work out the radius of circle

The first picture shows setting up the tape in line with the needle. Easier to do with needle down. Line top of tape with needle and begin by touching the needle when set I then cut off first 1/2 inch so feed dogs work.
Second picture position the expensive drawing pin at the size you want and tape down.tip od drawing pin in line with needle.

N ext find centre of the piece of work and push it over the pin and fabric under the needle.

I have Used a wide opening and to show did a round with a pattern.

Moved the pin in next picture to new radius and used a zigzag.

I have the tool - just took a class that featured this product. It is a fun thing to use. I don't think it world work for quilting unless it was a small wall quilt.

I have shown in the last 2 pics the back and front. I did not take ages just let fabric go round with hand on drawing pin to keep in place. Notice they did match up in a circle . I have not cut ends etc so you can see locations.

Thanks Dottymo for the tut. I got the attachment at local sewing machine store for a lot less than what I've seen on line. I know I probably can't use it to quilt large quilts but baby quilt and wall hangings will work well. I will be using it to make circles for a cute child's quilt - a fish with lots of bubbles coming up out of his mouth.

can you possibly put the photos right side up?? that would help.

this is a small quilt i made with the circle attachment for my Brother machine. i embroidered the characters first. there were 3 or 4 layers of fabric. after making a circle the center was cut out of each layer starting with the largest circle first

I wonder what this tool looks like. The video will not load.

Have not purchased one yet, I have been wanting to.

I don't see this working as quilting unless you are doing QAYG blocks. IMHO.
