Cleaning the drop-in bobbin area

2 Attachment(s)
In an earlier post, there were tips on cleaning the bobbin area of our machines, all of which I agree with. I'd like to add something that works with drop-in bobbins. I keep a small stack of 2" squares cut from an old tee shirt, and as the first cleaning step use one or two on the tip of my finger to mop around in the area, then throw it/them away. This painlessly gets rid of a lot of lint that otherwise would be scattered around the machine, or would clog up a brush or pipe cleaner. (This isn't an original idea with me.)

I bought a neat little kit from Harbor Freight, it has several different small attachments that go on your household vacuum cleaner. I can get into every little nook and cranny easily. I paid less than $10.

Looks like Harbor Freight doesn't carry them anymore, but you can get it from Amazon. Some sewing machine dealers also carry it.

I use the little brush that came with my machine and then a loop of pipe cleaner to get any fine bits of fluff out.

small piece of batting works good too

I have a long bristle brush stores use to sell for cleaning sewing machines, not any more. I wish I would have bought several. I have an artist brush too. I don't have a drop in bobbin. A swish or two with the above brush and the lint is gone.

I bought the attachments from Nancy's Notions. I use one of two machines a lot and clean bobbin area too often to get out the vacuum. So I only use it once in a while.
