Thank you. I left the old one hanging over my frame for several days while I pondered whether to fix it or start over. It was just too sloppily made for my tastes and too small for my now 7 1/2 year old great niece so when I found my sister's name on the back; I decided my great niece needs one with her own name on it--not her great-aunt's. I may still salvage the old one except for the backing. Since it was foundation pieced onto flour sacks--the blocks are still in pretty good shape. The sister who it was made for however is even more OCD than I am and I think the irregularities in it will drive her crazy--or crazier than she all ready is anyway. My thoughts are to make her a small quilt, too but more like the original--closer to the same colors but with more attention to detail in its construction than my great-grandmother gave to it.

We also found my mother's high school graduation memory quilt when we were cleaning out the rv. It was made by my grandmother in 1959 and my mother used it a lot. It has been washed to within an inch of it's life but grandma was much more detail oriented than her mother so it is still a pleasure to see it--even with all the wear and tear.

I love them BOTH! I'd KILL to have one of my great grandmother's handmade items, no matter how it was made...what a treasure!

What a wonderful idea you had to make a repro. It will last much longer and be loved in its own way. Great story!
