Clover Needle Threader for my hand finishing

Just bought a Clover needle threader to help thread needles. Saw it used by Jenny at MSQC. Made it look so easy. I cannot get mine to thread a needle to save my life! Has anyone else used these -- and is there a secret - like needle size, thread size, what? It does not look like it should be rocket science, but no luck for me here.

I bought one quite awhile ago and threading a needle was hit and miss- more miss.

I have a couple of them, and could not live -- well, sew, anyway -- without them. It seems that the needle should have a round eye, I think.... please keep trying different needles because they do work. I love mine! I use both 50 weight thread for piecing and hand quilting thread in it.

This is my current and it is great. Works with all my needles.

Not all needles fit, but I use mine all the time when doing hand work. Read the paperwork, as it will tell you which to use.

I have a clover needle threader and found that it works best on a hard surface such as a table, not so well on arm of the couch. Also some needles especially quilting needles are too short. I found that if I push them down with the handle of my scissors on the needle tip then it works. It does take a bit of practice but I do like mine.

I have the Clover and Bohin. One time one will work great, one time the other will work great. I think it is all in the type of needle I use. I do know gentle pushing does not work. I have to push the lever with some muscle behind it.

I recently bought this after hearing about it here. I don't know what I was expecting. I think some magic. Only thing I can see in it is that it's supposed to thread larger & smaller needles. Heck, my Clover one does that.
Oh well, weren't we recently talking about "gadgets" we don't use or need?

I just bought one today and I haven't had a chance to use it!! One good thing, I got it for 20% off. Wow!
