Some of you know that I am making a lap quilt for a DF who has been diagnosed with cancer (It's in the liver and pancreas therefore terminal) I am not very good at FMQ but there was no time to send the quilt to my LAQ so I said to self you CAN do this.... Well, my quilting isn't great, but I thought she would understand. To finish it off, I decided to add a decorative stitch in the middle of the outside border. 3 sides done. Then as I turned the quilt to do the last side, I dumped a glass of water that was on my sewing table. Of course water went everywhere including on the computer end of my sewing machine!!! I brought it to my repairman last night, and while await his news, I will TRY to improve some of the FMQ on my old machine that doesn't hold a tension well and maybe put on the binding. Please pray that drying it out will salvage my machine so I can get this quilt to her hopefully ASAP....

Oh MY! Just try to stay calm enough to finish the last of the quilt, it's such a wonderful thing you are doing!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for your machine. YOur friend won't care if or how this quilt is finished when you give it to her. Your act of kindness will speak for itself.

Thank you, Suzi! I am trying to remain calm and not bite MDH's head off as well. Hmmm

Gosh... this kind of thing always happens to me when I am rushing .... I will pray for patience for you :-) ... I am sure your friend will take great comfort in the quilt you made just for her :-)

What a sweet thing to do for your friend. Everyone should have a friend like you.

It will work out...you are doing a great thing.

NOOOOOOOO! Oh, I feel your pain! Hope your machine is alright. If you can't get your old machine to do the last row of decorative stitches, could you use that border to write a nice little message or verse for your friend. Get the binding on and she will love it because you made it thinking of her.

Hopefully, your machine will be fine since you took it in right away. After a family outing one time, we came home to find water coming out of all our light fixture due to a burst pipe in the attic. My serger was sitting right under the one in the dining room. Took it in the next day and they dried it out and oiled it. Worked just fine!

oh no!! next time do what I do_ water bottles!! :) Hope it works out and prayer for you AND df

That is one rule I follow. My drink is always away from my machine and since the color of my drink is usually red, it's a good plan to keep. Sorry you have such troubles though. Hope she comes back home purring like a kitten.

Sorry about your friend too. That is a horrible way to go. Hope she has peace.

I must be your sister CLUTZ then.. I was trimming batting from a small wall hanging yesterday (Gonna use the back for turning and binding) guess what I did???? Yes I cut right into the backing. big ole hole. I had to go buy fabric and cut and make binding. I'm hand sewing it on now.

I wish you all the best with your machine but even more for your friend.

Keeping fingers crossed

Thank you all for your wonderful support. I just got a call that now that my machine has dried out, it is working now... No guarantees for the future and of course they want to sell me a different machine. But for now, I am out the door to get it and finish what I started.... Pics will follow soon

So sorry to hear about your friend and your machine. I'm sure your friend will understand. I hope you are able to finish the quilt on your other machine.
