I have the worst time using Coats & Clark thread because of the rough edge around the top and bottom of the spool. Does anyone have an idea as to how to cover it so I can use up some of the thread that I have. I have a Brother 2004D, and the thread keeps getting caught when it is coming off the thread spool on the edge, because it is so roughness there.
Maybe it's me, or do others have the same expirence.

I use an emery board to file down those edges. I hate them!

I insert mine thread in the opposite direction of the 'cut tab'. In my current machine the thread lays horizontal so the cut tab end goes at the back. In my other machine the thread is vertical and the cut tab end goes on the bottom because the thread is pulled in the opposite direction UP.

hi linda, do you have any of the spool covers. they r white disks. my brothers sewing machine (1250D) came with 3 different sizes.

And how about getting the thread into the slot when you're finished using it? The new C & C spools don't have that notch in the edge of the spool top, they have of thin cut around the spool and it's a pain to trap the thread in it. May in Jersey

Don't know if C&C does it, but many of the manufacturers make their spools so that the end comes off and you can lay your thread end across the end of the spool and snap the cap back on to hold it in place.

I like the new C & C spools. It's kind of tricky getting the thread in the groove, at either end of the spool, until you get the hang of it. The ends seem to be nice and smooth though.
