I don't save them. I usually cut my selveges and use them as markers or labels for WIPs -- just write what I want with a Sharpie. I may be missing something here, but all of the selveges I look at don't seem wide enough to make anything out of. By the time you even up the edge and figure in your seam allowance, you almost don't see any of it and it ends up looking like a regular strip of fabric.

Is this what you wanted to know about?

For downloads - http://www.winnowing.com/
To buy the patterns - http://www.winnowing.com/patterns.html about halfway down is this: Book Block for the Library Quilt

Interesting ideas!

I use them to tie up ...stuff. They are soooooo strong; boxes, junk for the trash, branches, anything that needs tethering! Even keep a few lengths in our RV camper and in the car trunk...never know when you might have to tie something down or up. HAhaha

Yes, I collect them too. Someday I will make a quilt-already have the pattern!!!!!

Here is an example from a board member. There are lots of nice ones, just search "bookcase" from the top of the page.

The threads don't unravel around the holes, so it is ok.

Oh yeah, I save mine; I keep telling people I'm going to make a selvage quilt, but, so far I've used them for tying things in the garden, fence marking for the dog, wrapped rope placemat, future projects are a hammock to hang my batting from the ceiling, and color coordinated containers ( wrapped rope) for my scraps, last but not least a purse/ bag.

I save them in a plastic bag, then use to tie up tomato plants in the garden.
