College dorm quilt size?
What size quilt will fit a typical college dorm bed? Getting a head start on the quilt and college not selected yet.
Thanks for your help. |
My daughter's dorm has a twin bed..that seems to be the one we have seen all around..Some will have an extra long twin, so I would make it perhaps a little longer..I am not sure the exact extra length, but you can look at XL twin sheets to get an idea

a twin, I would think

Most college dorm beds are single XL which works out to about four extra inches long. However, there are exceptions and my daughter's bed was a double (full) XL which was impossible to find sheets to fit. We ended up buying queen sized sheets and tucking them in.

All the dorms we checked out when boys and dd were college hunting a few years ago had either twin or the long twin beds. The ones with long twin beds were in dorms that either were or had been guys athletic dorms. And yes one was at that time a girls dorm (athletic guys had gotten a new one).

Most dorms have XL twin beds which a comforter that measures 68 x 90 inches would work. If the beds are bunked, the ends might need to be tucked up under the mattress.

Mine had XL Twin so you might want to make that size zust in case

Twin size but make it about 6 inches longer.

XL Twin was the size when son #1 was a college freshman. Also known as a super single which is the size my my sister-in-law requested for her rig. 4-6 inches longer than a normal twin is also my recommendation.

XL Twin -- many colleges warn you of this so it might be on their web site. I would do 6" longer than a regular twin.
