College Football Quilt

I am looking for some ideas to make a quilt for my older brother. I have his name for Christmas and he said he would like anything related to the Wisconsin Badgers football theme. Soooo, I thought I would make him a quilt, but I am not good at designing things....anyone out there ever make a football themed quilt? Not a rag quilt, a regular quilt that a guy would like and be able to use....not for looks only. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks.

There are sites from which to order college football fabric. Just makes big squares and maybe sash inbetween. I think a simple approach is better than a more complicated quilt. It will show off the college better.

Just stick to the school colors and everything should work out. Good luck

Here's a pic of a Univ of Alabama quilt I recentlhy finished. It's an attic window. It wasn't quilted in this picture, but you get the idea.
It was actually my first attic window. I used hst for the mitered corners.

Love your attic windows. That would be a nice one for a team quilt for sure.

College quilt Ideas

I did this quilt for a friend of my husband's who is an avid USC fan. I did find USC fabric, but could have done the same idea with just the school colors. The blocks are squares with a border. The center medallion is just a scan of one of the printed logos on the fabric, blown up on the computer and fused with Steam a Seam. I edged stitched them as I am terrible at satin stitch. The center is the same as 4 of the blocks. You could do the same pattern but straight sets too. Find a logo you can scan and do your own fusible applique. Hope this gives you a good idea!

this one is in my file for future use. Its a pattern from Quiltmaker. It was in one of their issues and now you can buy it as a pattern. It would easily be adapted.

Here are two sources that carry Badger fabric. The 1st one is out of stock, but the restocking date is Nov 30th. I would love to see a picture when you are done! Good luck!
