I have seen several members mention using color catchers. I found this at Hancocks and it has worked quite well. It is a towel-like piece of fabric that started out white. I just finished using my first (good for 30 loads & comes with a count tracker) and it is really ugly now. I picked them up when Hancocks had notions 1/2 price, for a little over $2. Not bad to get 30 uses out of it. It even took out color that had bled in some flannel.

I use color catchers over and over and they keep getting darker and darker. Good stuff.

I THINK I saw them at Walmart, too - not sure. My mind is only 1 inch long and I've used it up already.

That's the brand I use - I've had no problems with it.

Wow, think I need to investigate these. Have never seen or heard of them over here.

I didn't know about this brand. Thank you for posting it.

Thanks for the info will have to buy some and try it.

I have only used the "SHOUT" brand. I think there are 30 to a pack and you use one per load. They work really well

I use "Shout" and get them at Safeway Grocery Store. About $4 a pack.

kwiltkrazy 10-16-2010 03:05 PM

Wow, I use another brand, where the cloth only lasts for one load. This sounds like a "greener" solution.

martha jo 10-16-2010 03:39 PM

I have used those but still think Shout works better.

littlehud 10-16-2010 05:44 PM

I'm checking those out the next time I go to Hancocks.

ReeneeD 10-17-2010 05:39 AM

you can receive a free sample from Shout if you go to shoutoffer.com and register. I saw them advertised on TV. I sent for a sample and they said 6 weeks so if I can find them at Shop-Rite I and going to try them. Thanx for the input.

deedum 10-17-2010 06:00 AM

Thanks for the tip, I will check it out! I love Hancocks!

tcnmom 10-17-2010 06:30 AM

You can also get them at JoAnn's. I have used them for a couple of years and really like them.

zquilter 10-17-2010 05:25 PM

So I assume these grab any color (dye) that might come from fabrics when washed. Do they set the color so it will not bleed the next time they are washed, like in a quilt?
