Hi All,
I have to do a block for a quilt guild member who is leaving our group and relocating to a different state. The block can be any design and must be 12.5" unfinished, BUT it has to contain orange. I have never worked with orange didn't even have any orange in my stash. I did buy 1/2 yd of an orange bright, but nothing in my stash seems to be pleasing with it. I've pulled out greens, yellows, purples, but it all looks yucky to me!. I guess I just hate orange! If worse comes to worse, I'll just whip up a pinwheel block with the orange and a cream. Hmm...Dreamsicle comes to mind. Anyone have any ideas about what to use with orange in a pleasing block? |
Orange is my FAVORITE color. I must have felt sorry for it as a kid, so it became my favorite. Poor orange, no one likes it :(
Earthy tones with orange are the best way to go I think. |
dark orange with reds would be nice.
regular orange with really pale yellows. |

You could do a citrus theme - orange, lime, green, yellow and white

Pull out your color wheel and try the opposing color, or maybe a triad scheme. Or have you though of just using a small bit or orange.

for me orange is a neutral color - it goes with everything.
since you've purchased a bright orange i would go down the citrus road as previously suggested. |
I'm the charter member of the "I hate orange" club. I like orange things--oranges, cheese, sunsets--but I just don't like the color. You have my sympathy. I like your Creamsicle idea--why poison other colors when you could let white take the hit???

Did you see the interactive color wheel from a post this moring?

Another vote for Autumn themes!
