Color choice

I am making a wall hanging as a gift for a friend's new business. I have finished the actual wall hanging and now am working on a hanger for it. It will be a welcome above a dowel w/ finials on the ends. I will need to paint it. This is my question do you think it should be painted white, metallic grey (most likely a brushed nickle look), or black?

I would choose metallic grey. I think it looks richer and would pick up the metallic look of the medallion center.

OH wow!, That is gorgeous! The striped binding is a spectacular finish for this... I'd go with white. It would make WH pop off the wall. But, all would be great. You could audition and start with white...fabulous, Kass.

Note to add: The color of their walls where this will hang may help you decide, too.

No advice, but that is so beautiful!

I wonder how it would look if you made it the same grey as in the binding.

That is a good point wouldn't want the "Welcome" to not show up on the wall.

Beautiful wall hanging.

It's beautiful. Why not ask your friend what she'd like? Maybe a dark wine red? I mention that because one time I was getting ready to repaint a mantel in a house where someone had previously painted everything a neutral. I agonized over the color and asked a friend whose artistic sense I admired. She ignored my various options (gray, black, etc.) and said "dark wine red." We did it, and loved it! I happen to think it would set off your medallion very nicely.

Black to look like wrought iron.

I like white, to pick up the bits of white in the medallion. It's beautiful, Kass!
