There's a very pretty green in the paisley fabric and that's what I would use with those very pretty blocks you have.
Well, I read the first set of comments, and decided against the red and yellow. had to grocery shop yesterday, and while I was at Walmart, I cruised fabric. Picked out a dark purple, and a medium brown. they both looked good with the paisley. /QUOTE]

Lara, it's so cool that you came to the same conclusion about the purple. One of my kids has an art degree, and i always feel like an under-achiever. :). Maybe I'm improving.

Hugs,
Charlotte

I love the red. It does make it pop.

boncroft 01-04-2014 10:34 AM

it is nice. Just put a border around the whole thing, and use it as best you can, depending on the finished size.

MargeD 01-04-2014 12:43 PM

I think I like the first one best, it brings that color out of the paisley print, which is very nice, by the way.

Carol34446 01-04-2014 04:44 PM

The blocks are beautiful and would look great with a mottled darker brown, they would pop if you could find a brown same color as in the paisley. Purple and drown sounds great, can't wait to see it finished.

I also like the first one....can't wait to see it done!!!

I am not a fan of yellows and reds together, so I like the second one best. I also like the green suggestion, but I really like the monochromatic coloration of the second picture. I think the red overpowers the pattern your blocks make.

I love paisley fabric. I would dash down to the fabric store and buy a bit of something that would accent that lovely paisley. If I absolutely had to use something from my stash I would find border fabrics. From your elementary years-my gosh girl that needs to be preserved and treasured. It's what got you going on all this madness!;)

Rose_P 01-04-2014 07:44 PM

The rusty red looks very good with it on my screen, and it certainly seems to me that it goes with the paisley, but if you are making it to use in your house, probably it just isn't going to be worth your time to do it in a way that you know your hubby won't enjoy. The yellow doesn't do a thing for me. How about a nice, dark brown? Maybe the simplest solution would be to just sew the blocks together and make something smaller, such as a couple of pillow tops. They are attractive, and you put a lot of time and care into them. It's good that you're getting around to doing something with them.

Don't like either of these choices but I like your blocks.

alright - finally!! here is the purple that I got . . .

I did find some more of the paisley, I set it up to audition, also.

Lara122 01-11-2014 09:17 AM

ok! Number two! Let's NOT like this one, because that is all of the big squares that I have! ;0)) But, I needed to see it, just to see . .

I could get brown, and make big brown centers instead of the paisley . .

Lara122 01-11-2014 09:22 AM

and last! I haven't given much thought to the brown yet . . I'd have to buy it, and stick it up! ha ha.

try not to look at that messy bit of sewing area, just the wall!! lol

joy 01-11-2014 09:22 AM

Same green that is in the paisley would look lovely... what you have there doesn't match...

Luv Quilts and Cats 01-11-2014 10:01 AM

I like the first one better.

Lara122 01-11-2014 10:19 AM

Joy - I don't see the green in the paisley . . . I think what you are reading as green is more of a tan . . . ?? I'll have to check my fabric, and see if I have some green, to see how it looks . . .

wildyard 01-11-2014 10:22 AM

Have you thought about setting your blocks on point?

needles3thread 01-11-2014 05:35 PM

A quilt is a quilt - no matter what size. Can it be a nap quilt for the couch?

richardswife 01-11-2014 05:49 PM

Red is definitely:thumbup: it.

ILoveToQuilt 01-11-2014 06:32 PM

I can't see the new pix either. :(

I say the first one also. It helps it stqnd out and not blend in which is what the yellow is doing
