I am thinking the same things about color when I am trying to use my scraps. It is tuff with them.

This is one of my favorite parts of quilting. When I am in town I love to help people who are frustrated picking fabrics.
I also choose a focal fabric that I love and then choose my fabrics to go with it. I also choose contrast colors that will go with my focal fabric. I just have to have some contrast in my quilts.

My son is color blind (all 4 quadrants!!!) and he can often tell if a fabric "doesn't go". It's something about seeing the values of the colors, not the colors themselves. Trust your judgement. If it looks good to you....it's good.

This is what I ALWAYS have trouble with... I have learned to use the dots on the selvages to help...or I walk up to someone else shopping and bother them! One of my favorite baby quilts was made with the help of a stranger who took the time to help me pick out fabric!
