Colored bobbin thread

I am doing some machine applique and would like to know what you think about using bobbin thread for it? I have a donut of Superior bobbin threads I have used for hand applique, but think it might work well on my machine also. They are pretty pricey at Superior, but don't see any else ware. Suggestions?

Why not use them? If the bobbins fit your machine. I’ve had a couple of those Superior threads bobbin sets- for appliqué. The bobbins won’t fit my machine but I’ve used them on top- just slid the bobbin on my spool pin. They worked fine

Thanks - do you know if Superior puts them on sale ever?

My friend uses one of the size100 threads that is typically for bottom thread as her applique thread and loves it. If you use a small zig zag, you can't even tell the thread is there.

If you sign up for their emails, you will be notified of all sales. They also have tips etc. in the emails.

I buy all my Superior threads online. Just key in Superior Threads in your search engine and you can by directly from Superior. They have frequent sales and I get e-mails from them any time they are having a sale.

I became a fan of the Superior pre-wound bobbins when I had access to my friend's long arm. We couldn't wind a decent bobbin on it to save our life. It's funny how our perspective changes, I went from the "what's the big deal about winding bobbins" to being all about using the pre-wounds -- only now I can't get them to fit my existing machines!

I order most of my thread directly from Superior, and would always throw in a couple of the sale bobbins. Typically they were random colors but I figured what the heck, a project would come up and with embroidery I would think they will.

I don't do embroidery, but if I did, I would want a big box of prewound bobbins to use. My current machine has a proprietary extra large bobbin and that's nice, but those bobbins are expensive. It's also pretty easy to wind bobbins and load them, but I'd still rather just have a dedicated already wound bobbin supply.

Superior has different threads to choose from on prewounds.
