Would it help to put more light on your cutting area? I find that helps me.

I think a die cut machine would be a big help to you.

Can anyone give me some advice on other colors of mats you may have used. I am thinking a pink/blue 2 sided mat may be what I am looking for. Thanks for your thoughts, Cheers, Barb

The ONLY mat that I have found where the markings were 100% accurate are the Martelli mats............and they are yellow on one side and purple on the other.........

I use a white mat because there is no odor to them, they have thinner lines, and I can see the lines better.

I bought this one, and just love it..

I really like the white lines against the bright pink..so easy to see everything. It's 2 sides, and a bit thicker than my old Olfa mat, but not brittle.

I have one that is pink/yellow. It's way easier to see the lines than on the green mats. Good luck, Overlander, finding a mat that works for you. Oh! I also have one that is light gray and that's good, too.

Sorry, I should have given more info. I use a ruler to cut, not the lines on the mat. It's just that I am having trouble seeing the edge of the fabrics unless they are really light against the green of the cutting mat I own. Mine is green on both sides. I was wondering if anyone has used the pink or whatever other color of mats and how they liked them.

My new one from Amazon is light pink on one side and light blue on the other. I have the same visual problem, and being able to use the color that shows best side has been wonderful. I will tell you that the ones they sell to architects are way cheaper, and exactly the same as sewing ones.

I too have struggled with my green mat and my small rotating mat that's yellow. I saw a medium sized at in Walmart that is light grey on one side & black on the other side. With the four colors I find I have success with my cutting but will definitely look for the pink & blue mat.

I only use the lines on the mat to make sure my fabric is lined up straight. I use my ruler to measure and cut with. I was told along time ago that not all mats are accurate. I have a blue, a green and a pink mat and have no problems seeing the lines. Since I don't use them to measure if they did fade I'd use a permanent marker over them.
