I was in a shop last week and the owner showed me how to test the fabric before buying.
Take a white piece of paper and rub it over the fabric. If color comes off, means it will bleed and need prewashing. |

I don't spend time worrying, fussing, testing, spending $ on color catchers etc. Everything gets washed so there are no surprises or headaches.

But for the first wash - reds go with red, blues with blues, etc. - and I watch the water. If there is more color than I want to see - I go after the "culprit" and spend more time with it. :hunf: |

There are some fabrics that don't exactly "bleed" - but the color seems to rub off easily.
