If you prefer to cut your outside edges on the lengthwise grain, buy 1/6 of a yard

I will be using pink fabrics for DJ sew along in January.

Wow.. OQF...that sounds like it will be interesting and beautiful!

Those are great tips on the yardage...I was thinking about buying a couple of Civil War repro FQ bundles, then supplementing with my stash- maybe...that would work wouldn't it?

i think it would work great.

i bought a strip it fabric and the strips are 2.5 inches wide and it will work fine for most of the blocks and then i bought a few various yards for when i need a large piece.

here's a pic of the fabric

Beautiful Klue!!

Sandpat-
I am planning on doing the same! Mostly scrappy from my stash and then some repro fabrics.

Well Star...we'll get to play in our stashes as we go...can't beat that I guess...I know it will make DH happy

Klue....I like that strippy fabric...I think I've seen some of it somewhere and its a great idea for this quilt! Did you get the blues like that also?

kluedesigns 10-04-2009 07:32 AM

no, i've been collecting for about 3 years- they are all FQs Japanese indigo.

i thought it was perfect to make an americana jane with american and asian fabric since i'm american and my husband is asian and we divide are living between our house here in NY and our house in hong kong.

its the perfect quilt to represent our family. i plan on keeping the quilt in our hong kong house.

Snadpat--Have your DH and my DH been talking????

sandpat 10-05-2009 05:20 AM

Star....I think I did overhear them the other day....it was just plain evil for them to think we could do the DH without buying MORE fabric

Klue...that must be a very interesting lifestyle. How often do you travel between the 2 homes?

renee765 10-05-2009 06:26 AM

Thanks for showing us the 'strip it fabric', Klue. I've never heard of that before, so I googled it and found other examples of 2.5 in strip designs on fabric. What a neat idea!
