comic boards??? what are they??
I've been hearing how some of you use comic boards to store your fabric on. So, what are they. I tried googleing it and haven't come up with and answer. Where to you get them? Are they cost efficient?? Are they bulkier than the normal bolt cardboard?? I have a lot of small pieces of fabric that I'd like to get under control and out to where I can see them. Will these work???

Leesa...google comic book boards and you'll get a lot of options. If I had shelves to store my fabrics on, I would get me some. There's different sizes and you would get what fits the best on your shelves. I've heard a lot of good things about them. Maybe some day I'll have a bigger space and can get me some shelves. There's also a lady here on the QB that sells them. I'll see if I can call it up.

OK...it's M.I.Late who sells easy core fabric boards. Search on QB for easy cores. It should be the 5th entry down.

They're not really good for small pieces of fabric, less than a yard. I was going to purchase them for my 1-yard-plus pieces, but then I discovered I could just fold them around an 8.5" ruler and they would stand up on their own, as long as there were fabrics on either side. The boards are used by collectors to store their precious comic books in an acid-free environment.

They are inexpensive and do help keep the fabric upright and straight.

Instead of using comic boards I just ruler folded all my fabric -- from fat quarters to 7 yard pieces. My fabric rests on the short edge and is stored in drawers. I was amazed that fabric folded that way took up less room.

I just use regular cardboard, ceral boxes etc. Been doing this for about 5 years. Just used fabric folded on cardboard that long, it was fine. I'd rather spend my $ on more fabric.

You can find them at Amazon. I use them to organize my stash. They're acid free. Cost about $12.00 for 100. I love them. Can see my stash at a glance.
Here's link if you'd like to take a look. http://www.amazon.com/BCW-Backing-Bo...s=comic+boards |
Please explain how to " ruler fold" fabric.....I just fold mine, and put in where it belongs color wise....I lay it down on shelf. This folding puts it on its edge?
