Big Sign at Wal-mart 50% off!!!!!! Anything on a bolt, sewing notions,
etc. Bought a lot for a little (relatively) I think they are making a big mistake closing the fabric department. Those of us who do a lot of community projects generally don't shop in the quilt stores. I really hope the closing of the fabric dept. doesn't have a trickle down effect on our charitable organizations. |
I went to my local WalMart yesterday just in case they decided to close that one down too -- nothing was marked down except for the fat quarters (to $1). So hopefully, mine isn't on the "list" yet!!

the state of the economy in its entire is having a trickle down effect on charities.
people just don't have lots of disposable cash any longer. |
It's so sad. Just when the charities need help the most.

I called my local WalMart to ask them if they were closing out their fabric department.
This is what I was told: The stores that are scheduled for a remodel will no longer have their fabric department. The FABRIC is my main reason for shopping at WalMart. I buy other stuff there, too, but at this stage of my life, the main things I stop for are: Gas, food, and fabric and personal maintenance items - and the only makeup I use is lipstick about once a month. |
The local Wal-mart here just did a remodel last summer and they still have their fabric department. It not quilt as large as it used to be but at least its still there.
|
My local Walmart is still safe, they did their remodel last summer too. They still have a fairly large selection of material.
|
My walmart also had a price roll back for fat quarters.....I thinks its because joanns hAS THEIRS ON SALE A LOT FOR .99 ..I wouldn't buy them before
|
I don't think they think ahead....I did alot of material buying for charity quilts...the QSF I used for my own quilts. What do they know, probably a committee of men
