Comparison of Quilter's Select and Olfa Frosted Rulers -

Does anyone have (or used) both of these brands of rulers?

If so, how do they compare to you?

I would like to see a Quilter's Select ruler "in person" before buying or ordering one.

it's like apples and oranges. i love the quilters' select rulers... they just don't budge when quilting. the marked lines are thin and easy to see and use accurately. my one negative is that you might scratch the bottom side and the non-skid material can scrape off.

I have their 6 x 24 and love it as someone mentioned it doesn't budge when cutting. Am slowly changing out my rulers to either this brand or the Creative Grid but Quilter's Select is my 1st choice.

Most of my rulers are still "usable" -

I have some of the Creative Grids ones - it seems that they have "improved/changed" them since I bought mine. I feel that the ones that I have are very "busy" and i really needed to concentrate when I was using them.

The only rulers that I have that I actively dislike are the Quilter's Rule rulers that have the ridges on the bottom side.
The lines are very thick and I feel that interferes with cutting accuracy.

Quilter's Select are by far my favorites.

I agree with Nan, it’s like comparing apples and oranges. I have slowly switched over to Quilters Select. I just purchased the 3x18 at a recent quilt show so now I think I have four of them.

I also love those Quilters Select rulers but just found a spray coating that works pretty good for those rulers you already have but are not available from QS. It is by Odif and called Grippy Non-Slip Coating. It is a good compromise!

I use both Olfa frosted and Quilters Select regularly. I love them both because they are very easy to read for me. My favorite is Olfa frosted. The big difference is that when on fabric, the Quilter's select "holds" to the fabric. This is good and bad. When I'm trying to adjust the Quilter's select, I can't just scoot it over a few inches to cut another piece. I need to pick it up and move it.

I saw Alex Anderson demonstrate her Quilters Select rulers and cutting mat. The mat is smooth and the rulers stick to the fabric, so you can turn your fabric easily. Example would be when you square up a block and your ruler (4 1/2") is the correct size of the block you need.

I have both. I prefer the Quilter's Select rulers. The frosted Olfa would be the same if they had the no slip all over backing. Nothing on the market now compares to the Quilter's Select ruler on a Quilter's Select mat.

I found that 3 of my Olfa frosted rulers were inaccurate, which was very disappointing. I had just purchased one, so I took it back to the store and showed the clerk. She was willing to exchange it for a new one, but we discovered every ruler had the same inaccuracy. Bye bye Olfa.

I really like Creative Grids rulers - frosted, non-slip, and readily available in my area.
