Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
I was wondering if anyone has used the fabric that Connecting Threads sells? If you have, what are your thoughts on it? Nice quality, flimsy, good color saturation, etc.... They are having a great sale right now and I'm tempted. I just don't want to buy something and then be disappointed in it. As always, thanks for the input! :) |
I used it on a challenge quilt for guild and it sewed really nice, has a really good feel. not problem at all
|
Love the fabric--very good quality.

I purchased 20 pieces (various yardages) from Connecting Threads just before Christmas. This was my first purchase from them. The package arrived quickly, and the order (including several spools of thread) was correct. I washed and pressed the fabric and had no problem with colors running or fading. The weight of the fabric is very good, certainly not flimsy. In fact I think it's on the heavier side of many quilt shop fabrics. It "feels" good.
The selvage on one side of the fabric is "different" in that it's not tightly woven, not "finished". However, the pieces were wider than 45" before washing, so no usable fabric is lost there, and the pieces seemed to press more easily than those with tightly woven selvages. Overall I'm very happy with the fabric quality. I did notice that almost all of the pieces I ordered had only 2 colors - white and one or two shades of something else - and this seemed to be true of a large number of the fabrics offered on the web site. I think this is why I haven't been drawn to Connecting Threads fabrics in the past. The fabrics just don't look as scrumptious to me as fabrics that use a lot of color. In fact I'm thinking about using these in my Dear Jane, since they remind me of fabrics from an earlier time. I'll definitely buy fabric from Connecting Threads again. In fact I think I'll take another look now... |
I have lots of Connecting Threads fabrics. It's manufacutred by KalTex. I like the silky feel of it and I haven't had one color bleed so far. I buy the fat quarter bundles of each new line or at least the strip or charm pack. That way I can see each color fabric to decide which one to buy more of. I bought enough on the sale going on now to have backing to last me a long time. The Sweet and Sour line colors are very pretty in person. I like the Bed and Breakfast line too and love the Indigo line. I can't wait to see the new fabric lines coming this year.

I love connecting threads. I've only bought the fat quarter pack from their "impressions of Kyoto" line, I haven't figured out what I want to use it for yet. However it is of superior quality compared to what I can get at my local Joann's.
Oh, and I don't buy thread from anyone else. |
I have several pieces from there, and I like it. Good quality, and the colors are color fast.
|

I read an article in WSJ that it cost about .94 a yard or less for a mill to make and print quality cotton fabric out of country. Shipped to the US, then it is sold by distributors to fabric shops.
|
I have some of their fabrics in kits and in yardage. I love all of them. Great feel and so easy to work with.
|
Both sites carry wonderful fabric :D:D:D
|
I think their fabric is fine and I always use the thread. Never a problem!
|
I'd like to cast my vote for a yes to connecting threads fabric too. Very reasonable by the yard and they are very nice to deal with.
|
The only problem I had with Connecting Thread was the colors were slightly different than I had expected. fabric itself was fine.
|
I originally purchased a quilt kit from them and absolutely loved the fabric. Loved the weight of it, the feel of it, the colors, etc. They had included a little extra fabric so I didn't have to worry about cutting it too close. The quilt turned out beautifully. I went back online and ordered more fabric for a king-sized quilt and am just as satisfied with this fabric as I was with the kit. I use their Essential Threads exclusively. Their service is very fast and I will be their customer for a long time!

I really like Connecting Threads fabric and their customer service is absolutely wonderful!!!
|
I buy alot of their fabric and love it. I am not into bright colors so they are right for me.
Thier fabric is made in the USA and is very good quality. They are priced very reasonable and the sales are fantastic. I prefer smaller prints and not to bright colors. |
They have a lot of fabric on sale right now. 96 cents for a fat quarter!
|
I buy from Connecting Threads a lot. My Elna and I love their thread, it doesn't cause a lot of lint to build up in the machine and it is silky to work with.
The fabrics are wonderful, I've never been disappointed with anything I've purchased. They are high quality and very easy to quilt with. Sharon |
I think somebody should send this thread to Connecting Threads -- that way they'll understand how much we love 'em!! :D

I have bought tons of things from Connecting Threads in the past, but very little fabric. They have a 40% off book sale every so often and I love that you can "peek" inside a book on their site. I've also bought tools from them. Their site is very easy to navigate and it's easy to spend $50 for the free shipping. :D :D :D |
Hmmm... Mexico is in North America too... sweat shops? I hope not!
|
Hmmm, very good point. I thought Mexico was Central America, but I just looked it up on Wikipedia and it is part of North America.

Thanks Okie, I just read that on their site too. It really does make you wonder where the rest of the processing is done!

KalTex who makes the fabric for CT is in Mexico. Here is their website. http://www.kaltex.com/kaltex/telas.html
They seem to be a very big world wide manufacturer. |

I enjoy their fabric. I, too, love the feel ot it.
|
One thing I've noticed about CT fabric, the back side is just as nice as the front design and usually in a solid color that matches perfectly. I can tell a difference from the back to the front of Moda and other big name brands as being the back. And I noticed my older Moda fabric is much better then the newer Moda. The older has more heft and doesn't ravel as much.
|
I have used Connecting Threads fabrics in kits and find them very satisfactory. From what I've read most of the fabrics are made here in the United States which is huge factor for me. :-P
|
USA only, no international shipping. Poo.
