Considering Bernina 750QE

I am considering purchasing the Bernina 750QE. Wondered if anyone had any opinions about whether the 10 inch workspace is big enough to do free motion quilting on a large quit (king or queen size)? My existing machine is less than 6 inches and I haven't even attempted a large quilt. Thanks!

10 inches is plenty especially if you do the quilt in sections. Make the quilt in manageable widths, then sandwich and quilt. Leave about an inch at sides to join . I machine top join them lie flat on a good surface to sew batting together and pin over the backing. I hand stitch but my friends machine making sure they sew close to the edge of back and in the ditch on front. Then just quilt over seam to connect two sets. Not all that pushing and pulling.@

I've done a king size on 7.5" so you should be fine with 10".

Thanks for the feedback! The price of the 830 with a 12" opening is just a little too much for me right now. Anyone own the 750QE out there?

I just bought a Bernina 750 QEE yesterday, I have been playing with it every chance I get!! I have mastered the regular utility stitches, the dual feed foot, and the BSR for FMQ in less than 24 hours!! I am sooo happy with it. It runs like a dream threading and bobbin is so easy and works perfect, I love the sisscors button, when your done sewing it lifts the pressure foot and cuts the thread, Love it. Just a few tips if and when you buy your Bernina, they cannot give much more than 20% off, but I bargained with him throwing in pressure feet, I got the double sided binding foot worth almost $190, and other feet I asked for before giving in and accepting his offer. The pressure feet are expensive, they are willing to lose a little bit of profit on the pressure feet to sell a machine, I say go for it. It is certainly everything I was hoping for. The only thing I would change would be to get more alphabets, there's only 4 and I am not wild about them, but the Bernina 880 is $2000 more and I can still embroider the words with the embroidery section of the machine, I haven't even opened that part to begin learning with it, I am going on Sat. to have an embroidery lesson. I was so blown away by the embroidery and quilting at Mel's Sewing in Tustin, CA they must have an awesome teacher there- the crafts displayed were so professional and gorgeous I was flabbergasted, I think I fell in love and it didn't take much to get me to buy!
