I have a book from Consumer Reports titled "How to clean Practically Anything"

Since there have been several posts about Cola products being spilled onto quilts I thought I would post what this book tells you to do for these stains.

Regular Cola

Remedies

blot with the detergent solution. If stain remains, try the vinegar solution. Rinse with warm water to eliminate sugar residue, which attracks soils and will caramelize over time, leaving a brown spot.

Notes

If a trace of the stain remains, dab with 3% hydrogen peroxide.

DIET COLA

Remedies

Blot with the detergent solution. If stain remains, try the inegar solution. Rinse with warm water.

Notes

If a trace of the stain remains, dab with 3% hydrogen peroxide.

Detergent Solution

Mix 1 teaspoon of mild CLEAR OR WHITE neutral detergent (a mild dishwashing liquid containing no alkalis or bleach) in 1 cup of warm water. Do not use laundry detergent, which contains optical brighteners that may discolor the fibers.

Vinegar Solution
1/4 cup White household vinegar and 2/3 cup water.
