I understand how to make prairie points out of a single strip of fabric, but I'm wanting a scrappy look. I figured I could sew two fabric strips together, but that still only gives me a two-color strip. I'm hoping somebody can put their thinking cap on and figure out a way I can do strips of multi-colored prairie points without having to sew individual ones.

I wanted to do this with a quilt too. But I never did it. Couldn't quite figure out how to do a bunch of colors. And no way did I want to make each individual point. Other than maybe sewing a bunch of small strips together. Maybe someone has a good idea out there

how about sewing the scrappy squares together, end to end, opposite sides etc..... the flip, press and sew as you would with a continuous strip?

mmm i use a 3" wide strip (by width of fabric + end to end adds) to make my continuous PP. So what if you did 1 1/2" wide by 6" strips and sewed them together to make a long scrappy looking continous strip 3" wide by x length and then do slicing for the prairie points?

I'm sure it was on this forum where I saw directions to take squares, fold them twice so you have a smaller square, put the raw edges between the back and front and sew them well. Of course I forgot to book mark it, even though it looked nice and easy.

actually, making individual ones is not that much more work. if you want the scrappy look, then you should just do it. it is the same amount of time to press them. so it might take you an extra 15 minutes. it's worth it.

I figured out how to make the continuous scrappy prairie points. Nothing like a night's sleep to percolate the problem.

Wow pretty they look great!

Take 4 inch squares. Fold forming a triangle, then fold again forming a smaller triangle, slightly nest and space them and sew them down.
