I've read you can convert just about any quilt pattern to a paper piecing/foundation pattern. Is anyone familiar with this? Or is this old news and everyone is familiar with it except me? I just joined today and I already love reading everything.

hi joann, welcome :!: :!: :!:
i don't know if every block can be converted to paper pieced, but some can. i have even just converted a portion of a block to pp. in this instance it made it easier for me to finish the block. stick around. this is a good group and very supportive. (sometimes even hilarious    |
I suppose technically, you could change all patterns to pp. But pp isn't necessarily the best way to make all patterns. So, I would investigate the other alternatives before changing all patterns.

Did you have a specific pattern in mind? I draw the pattern on scrap first, leaving allowances, and incrasing straight lines to edges. Play with folding the paper first to see which order to piece them in.
That is not a very good explanation, but I could show you in person. I am sure someone has a paper piecing drafting tutorial online. |
I haven't a clue. i just wanted to welcome you to our, and now your quilting home!

I agree with Moon.. it will take some playing with but It should work in the end.
