I don't know if anyone else has already though of this but being nearer 70 than 60 years old I was pretty happy that my brain still likes to work!

Rather than constructing at least 4 trial squares to see how the quilt pattern will look once they are put together.. sew one then photo copy it (in color preferably) at least three times and tape them together. I now know exactly how my ribbon square quilt will look when finished. Memo to self.... need to refill the paper drawer in the copier!!

good idea... I use 2 mirrors at 90-degree angles to each other, and stick my square into the crook... gives me a good visual :)

Yep...if you don't use it, you lose it! My kids tease me about quilting sometimes, but it does keep your mind active as well as your fingers!

What a great idea ... thanks!

The colors would be a perfect match too, got to find a coupe of mirrors!

I did find that on the Carpenter's star, it mixed up the center on my visual, but I was able to re-visualize it... here's a sample of what I see... its a large block in the pic, my neighbor was redoing their bathroom, so I recycled the 3-panel mirrors from their medicine cabinet :) they're long and skinny, and live behind the couch, works for me!

see how it repeated the center star? I just imagined the "right" colors...

I love my quilter's mirrors. Fun playing with fabric with them.
