The piping is 1/16. I wouldn't mind buying in town but no one has much of anything except drapery. You can't find out how much the piping shrinks and prewashing it is a disaster. No one seems to have any idea of how to clean anything.
Joannes also has piping for that bias tape/piping maker and it's thicker than what I want. I think the spool I found was 28 cents a yard.

Our local Joannes had never heard of washaway thread, and one clerk asked me what Chambray was. If it isn't made with fleece, forget it. We have a couple of decent quilting stores but even they don't carry certain things.

I tried searching every which way for cording and that book was the only thing that came up. All the other links were for premade Wrights, etc.

I'll try looking for "rat tail" I think I had some of that at one time and it worked well. Check out Atlanta Thread, too.
I'd prefer a place that might have other stuff I wanted.

Any more links would be welcome. Thanks for the ideas.

Here's a quilting tutorial for the cording.

You can also purchase in any fabric store that carries drapery items. It comes on rolls of different sizes.

I've never looked at the book or the particular cording that is recommended. I have done piped binding on quilts (as well as piping on other projects). I, too, used the 'rat tail' cording that is readily available in JoAnns. I don't know that it is available in white so just make sure you get a color that is close to the fabric that you are using to cover it with.

I forgot we had a Hobby Lobby. They had 2 small spools of some suitable cording.
I'm still checking out the nice links. I'll be wanting some extra stuff and will try to use the site where I can order more than one thing.

Thank you all.
