I think Sewnoma covered everything. If it does turn off, it only takes about 30 seconds for it to heat back up. I purchased mine at the Houston IQF this year, but know two people who have had theirs over a year, and we all love it. Since I have a big board ironing board, the larger base doesn't bother me. Also, I have my iron plugged into a surge protector / power strip, and I turn it off, so there is no danger of shorting out. I don't use steam, so cannot comment on that, but I love the iron.

I have a cordless and it works great. It is an Oreck, not a Panasonic. I've had it probably 15 years. I don't use it often, but love it when I do. I think having it on a Big Board would make it more useable. It works great for ironing squares, but it cools off too quickly when pressing the backing or yardage. I'm sure they have improved them since I got mine.
