cordless iron??
 

I just learned there is such a thing as a cordless iron. Does anyone have one? Is it any good?

I have a full size cordless Panasonic iron that I love. It is no longer my primary iron since I got my Black and Decker Digital Advantage. I love the cordless one because it is lightweight and easy to take with me for classes and things since the base comes with its own hard cover case with handle. It gets hot fast, and cools off fast, which is very nice in some ways, but it does have a very short auto off , so when I have alot of large pieces to iron, it is a bit irritating, but for smaller things and applique I adore it. it does produce great steam when it is wanted as well.

Thanks. I am trying to decide if it is good for quilting. The short auto off would be a disadvantage.

not as a primary iron no, but nice as a backup or class iron !

I asked Santa for one, they seemed to be well liked on Amazon.

There's a new one that I've seen at several LQS recently. It heats up on an electric base, but then you can use it without the cord to press. It looks light weight and small, so easily portable. I've considered getting it for retreats/classes, but I think it's rather expensive. I'd love to have a light weight portable one for travel.

i have one, and like slightlyoffquilter, it turns itself off too soon. i do love the supreme steam, quick heat up/down, and that the cord is not in the way. i use an inexpensive wm iron for my primary iron.

I have an oreck that i got from my mom and you can go cordless or use
a cord.

I have had one for years made by Maytag, very nice iron.

Okay, thanks, everyone. I was mainly looking for one to eliminate the cord going down from my ironing board, as the cord bothers my quilt inspector, who sleeps under the ironing board. :) Sounds like this won't be a good iron for my primary iron.
