Cordless Iron
 

Could you please provide your feedback for these irons or recommend a different brand of cordless iron? I'm looking for a dry iron & yes, I've read that they loss heat as soon as you take them off the crade, but I want to hear what you think. Thank you for your time!

I use vintage irons but my BFF has the Panasonic 360 iron and loves it.

I have an Oreck cordless iron that I've had for 10-15 years. I use it on occasion, but not for all my pressing (kinda like a microwave and an oven each have their own uses). It works great and I'm very pleased with it. I can happily recommend the Oreck cordless iron.

I have the panasonic 360 and use it for paper peicing. Not really noticed it not staying warm enough, but when doing this, I'm not using it for that long between "rests".

Number one gripe, it has a rather fast shut off time, so I try to keep an eye on it and bump it if I see it blinking (warning it's going to shut off). I use it by my side when paper piecing. It also has three heat setting, but I find HIGH works on the cottons.

I really like the point on both ends too. I have never used water in it so can't say how it's steam feature works.

I have the Panasonic multi-Directional/stainless steel plate. I love it. Steam works good. Burned my fingers a few times...OUCH! Yes they do loose heat pretty quick. If you are looking for an iron to do long iron times, I don't think cordless will work.

I have one of the Panasonic ones from Amazon. I love it. It gets nice and hot and has good steam. The best part is not having the annoying cord when pressing large pieces of fabric or quilt backs. The other thing I like is the clicking it does when it's getting ready to time-out, so then I can spin around in my chair and pretend-iron on the ironing board to reset the timer.

I have an older Maytag cordless iron. Use it only for ironing completed quilt tops and backs. It helps when doing the bigger pieces. Otherwise, I just use a cheap corded B&D iron for piecing.

I purchased a cordless Panasonic about a year ago. I got one that has a flat end, not the 360--partly because it was only $60. I have truly enjoyed it. Not having to deal with a cord is helpful. The off-set of putting it back in its holder to allow it to reheat is worth it.
