Has anyone made quilts or anything out of cordory? I have some light blue and brown that was given to me. Not sure what I can quilt with it or if it would or could be quilted.

I've made a comforter out of corduroy. In fact, I think it was the first 'quilt' I made. I used corduroy squares and washable velveteens squares set in a random pattern. I used also used a soft corduroy as the backing and tied it. We used it for a long time, about ten years.

I have also used it (with denim) in a tied comforter. It's nice and durable. large simple shapes and allow 1/2" seam allowance if you can - it frays.

When I was a girl my grandmother was a quilter. Not really pretty ones, but practical. She made them out of the skirts from my old dresses, where ever she could find it. One day she and her husband took the trash to the dump and there a local clothing manufacturer had dropped off several boxes of scraps of corduroy. She used those scraps for several years in making her quilts. There were some beautiful blues and reds in the boxes. Enjoy using what you have. The quilt police won't come and take your joy. Linda

I don't see why not. I've never sewn cordory before, but I'd imagine it'd be similar to sewing denim. In that case, use a block with large shapes and doesn't have a lot of pieces...it'll make things easier. And if you're making an entire quilt top out of cordory, if its anything like denim, you can expect two things: a lot of weight to deal with and getting extremely hot trying to handle that weight.
