Cork fabric

I purchased a yard of cork at a quilt store going out of business 😟 really cheap. Looking for ideas of what to do with it. Any ideas? I don’t need a wallet which I’ve seen. Thanks for your ideas.

I have a friend who makes lovely things in addition to quilting and she just loves the cork as either the main deal or an accent. Yes, wallets, bags, organizers, luggage tags... wall art and decorative objects of all sorts.

Her retreat group usually gives a small gift to each person, the luggage tags were really nice for that.

When I purchased my cork it was still pretty expensive so just picked up 9" x WOF. I needed a new make-up brush bag and had the perfect embroidery design to add to it. I also used some vinyl in the same color for the inside as well as for the pocket section. I used clear vinyl for the flap over the brush heads. I tried velcro for the closer but that didn't work as expected so went to my snaps. Love it and it works great. My machine was able to sew thru 1 layer of cork and 3 layers of vinyl with no problems. The design was free but can't remember where I found it. I used metallic thread on the design too.

I have made cross-body bags, small card wallet and phone wallet/card wallet. Had a pattern for the bags, made up my own for the others. Saw something totally different the other day but for the life of me don't remember what or where. If it comes to me I will be back!

Everyone I've seen that's worked with cork says it's really easy to sew. I'm not a big fan of Pinterest because I never can seem to find instructions for things I'm looking for & then get lost in looking for things that I didn't expect to see & then find that hours have gone by. :D However, here are some ideas that might help you. Also, the second link shows some really cool earrings! Be sure & show us what you decide to make.

I've mostly seen jewelry, applique shapes, make up / camera/ laptop bags, handbags, totes, clutches, purses, trivets, weaving cork strips into trays, stuff like that.

Made this bag. It was quite easy to sew, you just have to be careful not to have to turn it too sharp when you have to turn it right side out.
I am currently designing a case for my pool cue with the leftover cork fabric. I'll post a pic whenever I get that done.

Watson, that bag is really, really nice! I love what you did, and I really like that cork fabric.
