Today I found a new log cabin square, unfamiliar to me. I love it. If I wanted to make a quilt with this square,,,should I use just this or can I mix it with the regular log cabin, and courthouse steps? Would that make the quilt to busy, using a variety of styles?

In a book that I have, called 200 quilting tips, techniques, & trade secrets. By Susan Briscoe It is just a nice easy block, but perfect for my grandsons quilt

yes, that is the one. Is it best to make each block the same to form some sort of pattern?

I'd make them the same just to be symmetrical and to have the seams line up. But I like symmetrical quilts!

thanks for your input. This is just for a little boy, but I do want it to be nice. I appreciate your help.

I have this pattern set on point as a doorway quilt. It matches my dining room wallpaper pattern. I wouldn't care for it mixed.

Have you seen the "liberated log cabin"? They are sort of mix and match
and non-symmetrical. Maybe that might be something you're looking for?
