Correct name of star blocks

Will someone please tell me the correct names of these star blocks?

The green star is from one of the different arrangement of the Tumbling Blocks pattern I believe. Most quilt blocks have several names depending where they originate.

The EQ7 block library shows it as Hexagonal Star. I Googled that and saw photos similar to your green one.
The Hexagon Tumbling block is described here http://timquilts.com/2012/03/09/hexa...ation-pattern/ You second star block appears to be the same block but with a hexagon center. |
I spent quite a bit of time looking for a name for the lower block last week because a neighboring guild owns an antique one. It's not in Brackman. The upper one could be any of several, depending on the total pattern. The one I like is Seven Sisters (6 stars around a center star) Remember, patterns may have many names or none at all. Don't get hung up on "right" names or forms. Folk art does not work that way. Where there is a known name, it is generally because someone published it.
If there were alternating colors on the first, it could have any of several names, depending on which way is up. At a casual glance, I don't see it in one color. |
Unfortunately, there seems to always be numerous names for just one pattern.
