The fabric in the warehouses now was all made from higher price cotton. How long will it take for that to sell out? And then there is the quality of some of the newer fabric. One has to check the thread count and the feel.

I'll believe it when I stop seeing $12.99 at the quilt shop, as I did yesterday.
|
but remember......the fabric we will see in shops in the Spring and perhaps even summer and fall was printed on base cloth at the higher price. So it may be late next year before we see any change.
|
there isn't going to be any change. as long as everything gets shipped out and the imported back in, the price is going to stay up there. will go without the fabric before I pay that much for fabric. The US govt cut our throats when they let manufacturers go overseas to produce their products and then under free trade let them import it again. That is why there are no jobs here. We can't work for the price of labor in China or India or Mexico.

I'll believe it when I see it. Just like gas.......still waiting for a dramatic drop here (Illinois). I'm guessing the stores will still charge higher prices to cover what they paid at the time...new stuff will be reduced.....

Do you ever see the prices of groceries go down?
Maybe the owners of fabric stores are more in tune with their customers and take pity on us and lower their prices! |
You know, not many people knew that it was so high, the highest since the Civil War!!!~ So, I'm glad to hear that it is slowly going back down. Thanks!

I notice that when the price goes up, it goes up fast and steady. When it goes down, it goes down slowly. The best bet is getting it on sale and using my stash.
I see where the bali pops are going up again in a few weeks -- hard to pay more for strips that are not consistently cut. |
Well it will be good news when it is reflexed in the prices of the goods sold to us. Hopefully it will be lowered but I am sceptical.
