And don't forget those chores around the house! Allowances are a wonderful way to teach children the value of a dollar and to save for what they want! Love her attitude!

She does beautiful work, I think it would be a pleasure to share your stash. Perhaps if you have some earmarked for a special project you put a block on that, but I would encourage her and just enjoy the experience!! It is something she will always remember this special time spent with you!!

My dear niece (11) comes for companionship and sewing one night a week. She is now only allowed to raid my scraps. When we go shopping for fabric somehow I end up paying for hers! She now has to do chores for me when she is here so she can earn money to get her own fabric!

It's wonderful that she is so interested and is doing so well with her projects! But if you have certain fabrics that you don't want her to cut up, you should tell her that. Either limit what she can use or help her find a way to acquire her own. Thrift shops are a good idea. There are also sale sections of on-line shops. Surely there must be chores where she can earn extra money to buy her own. Good luck with her wonderful talents!

Consider yourself blessed. There so many things your dd could be doing that would actually take her in a negative way. I can't think of a single negative thing she could learn by becoming either a fabricaholic or a quiltaholic. I mean, seriously, with all the problems teens have these days...I'd be jumping up and down with excitement by her love of sewing.
