The countdown is on! Only 4 days till the next BOM...... :) Hope it is easier than crazy sue....lol. It was painful but looking back it was a learning experience....lol
|
we are obviously leaving you with too much time on your hands.
maybe i should make up a special rule, just for you: Toni has to make 3 of every BOM: (1) for Toni to Keep; (2) for Toni to send for Me to Keep; (3) for Toni to send to me for a quilt to give to somebody else. i might never need to sew another stitch.   |
hi Toni well it's my turn to do the next bom. I'll give you a little hint, you will need five different colors for this bom. You'll have fun making it, i promise it will be fun. I've decided to make it into a full size quilt. I really like this pattern. I'm suffering with a real nasty cold and think i also have the flu. But i will have the bom done for the 15th. I am doing some other quilts at the moment one is the marjen for error quilt, which i'm taking online, oh my goodness i'm so far behind. So hopefully i'll feel better within the next few days so i can get caught up with all my ufo's. I still have to finish my sunbonnet sue to, its started, need more buckleys  . Happy sewing everyone, Denise.
|
LOL... funny Patrice. That is the bad part I get so anxious then when I see the block I go ughhh and complain.... just like a woman aren't I....lol.
Loretta it probably would help if I had other ufo's but that is the bad part about me too. I can't have a bunch of projects half done. I have the need to finish one complete before going to another. Kind of wish I wasn't like that. I am waiting to finish my son's but won't start the next till I get the stuff to finish his. Maybe it is because I am still a newbie! Hopefully once I become a more experienced quilter I will be able to get over my phobia of ufo's...lol And Denise, how unfair to tease me about the next block....lol. |
Toni, I don't like UFO's either. I had to stop in the middle of a project to work on a charity quilt and I'm a nervous wreck. I don't like to start something new until what I'm working on is finished. I think it's because my friend who got me started quilting was the queen of UFO's . She had a quilt in her frame she'd been working on for her daughter for a couple of years, but was always busy quilting on something else too. She died with her daughter's quilt still in the frame. I'd rather finish one project and get it to the person it's intended for than have 15 in progress. But that's just me.

I started quilting with the idea of finishing each project in turn but something went beeezerk and I have so many projects now I had to put a stop on everything until I can complete at least half of what's hanging over my head! I just couldn't stand the pressure any more. Denise, your new block sounds like fun already! I can hardly wait but I'd better go wind up a few things so I can come back and play with you all. |
toni you tickle me to death!!! i've come to look forwared to your excitement of a new BOM being posted!!
|
5 colors :?: :?: :?: I only got 3 colors for my sampler, just tell me it doesn't have 35 pieces It took me over a year to get rid of BOM phobia.
I did one or two for last year lol.......I only have four UFO's these are tops I have some bad squares that are going on a trip lol So bring it on . If I don't like it I'll try' but I might not show you. lol |
Alright Denise bring it on! I am ready for the BOM. I went to the store and got a little of 10 different colors! So depending on what you got I may do two...lol
|
I feel so inadequate. I only have 8 quilts in progress. But... the lap quilt is almost done, the YBR is pinned and ready to quilt, the Homeward Bound' top is a couple of hours from being complete, Amelia's quilt is about 1/3 done, all the fabric for my SW medallion quilt is bought, washed, and pressed, my one block a week paper piecing project (128 pieces per block) is now 6 weeks behind but all the fabric is bought, washed, and pressed, the Latilla quilt has all the material pressed and waiting to be cut, and only Eye Dazzler is in some sort of limbo because still every time I take it out and do another block, I realize how far in over my head I have gotten.
But I do like looking at everyones BotMs. tim in san jose |
Tim in San Jose,
With all of those projects winding down you're going to be sitting around with nothing to do before you know it. I recommend you start another project this week! |
I'm sure you'll rise to the occasion whatever the block is Toni! And you'll make a good job of it!! I've got faith in you girl!
Five colours eh Denise? ...I've just been practising a Dresden plate block with five colours! Hmmmmm! Karen  |
yes everyone you will need one dark color and four bright colors for this block. yes everyone can do this. It will be a very good learning experience for us all. Lets not worry about it and just have lots of fun. :)

I've gotten so hooked on the forums that I don't have TIME to have any UFOs! If I had high speed maybe I could go through all of the added messages in just a couple of hours instead of all night! :D :D :D
|
I am always working on more than one thing at a time! I knew I wasn't alone in this tho! LOL Right now I have a crib quilt top on my design wall....a pile of double 4 patch squares...a pile of string quilt squares, a couch throw and a wallhanging all laying out and in different stages! LOL

Hi newquilter-toni,
alright, i'm wondering what a BOM is???????? please explain as i joined recently. there's always something new to learn here. as far as too many UFO's......I have a thing about CLOSURE. I'm willing to take it where I can get it - which is in my art projects. I lack closure in the rest of my life, no control over it tho. So maybe that's what i do art stuff for. |

thanks again, Jeanne No really... No... REALLY! OK... Over on the right side of the box you look at, there is a button that says "quote". Click it. And answer me with whatever nonsense I have posted. tim |
Well I'm bummed. I haven't been getting any notice's that this Thread has been updated. :P
Technically there are only 2 minutes until the day of the next BOM. I did this last month, up waaaay past my bedtime. Geez, I'm too old to be this excited, especially when I've got so many other things I should be working on. Yet here I am, checking the Boards, just in case. ~Tiffany |

The bottom URL is "Stop sending me updates on this thread". And I am still working 50 hours plus a week on my real work. You know, the one that makes me money. What am I doing up? tim in san jose |
Well, i am very excited waiting for the new BOM. I've never done one and think i will start now. Sunbonnet Sue was too hard to be my first one lol But i LOVE the Sue's that you all have done! :)
|
I love applique and was thrilled that Sue made the list. Whats so neat about her is that accuracy in cuttin her out is not really critical. I mean you want proportions tobe right--bonnet not smaller than feet, but after you get the proportions right, its anything goes.
|
I think I might have to check out this new BOM. I haven't done one in a long time.
although that is a little bit of a lie. My quilting buddy in New Zealand has been scanning me her instructions from a BOM she has been doing for the last year. All the blocks are 5" x 5" and there are about 100 of them!! all the pieces are cut 1 1/2" square and 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" I will be carried off in a straight jacket by the time I finish that one! Cheers Andrea |

Tim, you work too much!
I like this new block, but I don't see it standing alone in a Sampler Quilt. I can picture it as a table runner or even done up...well, let's just say I'm designing a quilt with one of the elements using this block. I need to finish sketching it out before I actually can say whether I have anything worthwhile or not. It sure is a striking block. I'm going to have to try it in solids. It seems to lend itself to looking Amish. ~Tiffany |
