cowboy kids quilt

I am looking for a pattern for a baby quilt with cowboys. Preferrably an appliqued cowboy in the center. Any ideas?

quiltingshorttimer 04-18-2017 05:29 PM

Keepsake quilting used to have a couple of cowboy themed kits.

If you pinterest cowboy quilts you will find some with Sunbonnet Sam cowboys, and child cowboys to real cowboys (mostly silhouettes). That would give you some ideas. There are some nice quilts there!

If you do machine embroidery, you'll find lots of options. You could embroider different cowboy images on different parts of the quilt.

Have you googled "fabric + cowboy"? I just did, and fabric.com had a number of nice prints you could work with. In fact, you could probably put enough together to make an I-Spy quilt if you included neutrals for lattice and/or alternate squares.

Have you seen the Disappearing 9-Patch pattern here for making an I-Spy quilt? It's marvelous! I'll do a search and post again.

Here's the link to the D9P for an I Spy quilt: http://obsessivelystitching.blogspot...ring-nine.html

Found it among my bookmarks.

Check out the "A Cowgirl Quilt Shop" in Jewett, TX. ( www.acowgirlquiltshop.com ) She has an awesome selection of cowboy/western patterns and fabric.

Have you thought about looking for a coloring book? You may be able to get a design to use to make an appliqué or if you do hand embroidery, to trace and embroider.

I have always wanted to make a cowboy quilt - I was a giant fan of the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, to start the list from the time I was about 2 years of age. About 10 years ago I was at the Road to CA show and they had so many different fabrics and I was ready to buy a yard of each when I realize no one else would have been the least bit thrilled with it. No one in my family - kids now don't have much of a clue who or what the Lone Ranger was. The Roy Rogers Museum was moved from Victorville CA to somewhere in Missouri. I still love watching those old shows.

That's a great quilt. The colors really work well. Did you sash and fussy cut the individual charms or did they come that way?

I love it! where did you get the cowboy in the center. that is what I'm looking for. Is it preprinted panel or did you applique it?

I have that fabric that is on the web site that "Jane Quilter" sent you to. I have the little cowpokes sitting a fence if you are interested. I also have red fabric with horseshoes on it to coordinate with it. Just PM me if you are interested.

I forgot to say that if you go on the web site the little cowpoke fabric is about 8 rows down.

In our picture gallery, there is a very cute cowboy quilt, appliqued in the center. I think she said it was from Amy Bradley.

I have bought a kids quilt pattern at the Stitchin Post in Stillwater. A sample is hanging in there on the north wall and is says Go Pokes (imagine that!) at the bottom of the quilt. Very cute! Also the quilt shop in Guthrie has all kinds of western fabric and panels. Hope this helps.

lindaschipper 04-20-2017 08:37 AM

The website "Sew Thankful" has a pattern for Little Cowboys or Cowgirls by Amy Bradley for $9.99. I'm not associated with the site, but just saw it and thought it was cute.

Some ideas. I agree find a coloring book to do the center cowboy.
