Craftsy class
 

Has anyone taken Ann Peterson's class, Quilting Big Projects on a Small Machine? If so, do you recommend it?

I have taken 2 craftsy classes. One was great and one was lousy. The angela waters class was great but she is a laq. I have considered taking the class you named bc I want to use my DSM to FMQ all different sized quilts. I don't want to do quilt as you go methods and I don't want to throw a quilt over my shoulder (especially annoying and uncomfortable). If you do take the class, please update us one what you think of it. TY

I started the class when it first came out. I am not sure if I ever finished it. I plan to go through it again soon. If I remember correctly, I learned enough that I was comfortable quilting large quilts on my small machine. For me, as a newcomer to quilting at the time, I thought the class was worthwhile.

I, too, started it but haven't finished it yet. After I started it, I started her other class and decided I wanted to finish it first before going back. I do like her as an instructor though for what that is worth.

I also signed up for it, learned some very useful things, but haven't gone through each method yet. I've signed up for a number of classes and have been sidetracked with garment sewing all of a sudden. I would recommend the class.

I am about 2/3 through this class and it has been worthwhile. Once I have completed this one, I plan to take her other class "Beyond the Basics" (I think it's called). I like the fact that she covers several different methods to get the job done...some instructors can be a bit "stuck in their ways" but not Ann. She's all about helping you find the best way for YOU.

I have used some classes but as videos to watch myself not do as a class. I just enjoy watching and finding out different ideas. I have never thrown a quilt over my shoulder to quilt on a small machine. One of my friends does not do apartment, quilt as you go. She divides the quilt into sections 2,3,4 depending on good places to split. Much easier.

I ordered this class and was very pleased with it. I am now on my third quilt a 94 x 94' rail fence pattern. My first one was a 36" wall hanging. My second "big" quilt was a twin size Kaleidoscope quilt. After finishing it I was pleased enough with my machine quilting (Leaves on border, A square within a square on second border, a background filled with dragonflies and random quilting) to show it in my quilting class and admit that I had done it on my home sewing machine (lol). I would recommend it for beginners like me

I haven't taken that class, but I bought the book Machine Quilting in Sections by Marti Michell. I bet it teaches the same thing. In general, I would rather have a good book than an online class - easier to pick up at any time and find what you need.
