Take an overhead look at a couple of major league stadiums. I think the outfield is edged by a series of straight lines that end up looking like a half-circle. Make the sewing easy on yourself - it sounds like the rest of it will not be so easy on you. Good luck!

The "problem" has been resolved. After shooting the "friend" an email about with more details to actually proceed, she googled and came across this topic. Of course she is upset, and doesn't wish to proceed. So, it's unfortunate, I guess. Wishing her the best....

I would sew a log cabin in the Barn Raising pattern and call it a day. It makes a nice big diamond. Beggars can't be choosers. And since you already know that she is a glass-half-empty gal, you for sure know that no matter what you do, she will find some way to be disappointed. It's her way.

Make the quilt so you are pleased with it, send it off to her, and know that you did a good thing. Don't hold your breath looking for applause from her, but please post pix here so that we can all congratulate you. I know it will look great!

HaHaHa! ROTFLOL!

No! You don't need to go by those specs. If you even get it close to "being in the ballpark" she'll be happy (or not).

Seriously, I've never wanted to NOT do a quilt in all my life.

If someone delivers a dump truck load of toxic waste to your house - do you sign for it too, even if you did not order it????? I was recently asked that question when dealing with a "friend" whom I would LOVE TO DIVORCE.

It seems to me that you are taking the BB Diamond too literal. Use it as a guideline instead and my suggestion would be to use the square in a square pattern. On point it resembles what you are after and the fabrics tell the rest of the story.

As for the "friend" - No is a perfectly good answer. Some people revel in negativity and some (like my nag) would suck the joy out of Ghandi. As hard as this may be for you to hear: None of this is happening without your permission. SO finish the quilt the way you want to see it done, give her a discount on the fabric, hand it off to her son with a glad heart, and don't get roped into another adventure.

If you start to waffle send me a pm. I'll help you out!
