I found a beautiful deep red & yellow rose print. I want to make a center square of the huge arrangement then smaller squares of other roses in fabric. I plan to use 3 different colors as sashing around blocks. Would a large focal centerpiece look ok or do I need to have more than one. I plan for this to be king sized, machine pieced, & hand quilted. thnx.

Yes, it would be fine, would be sort of a medallion quilt. They are pictured in the quilt magazines and books all the time. Just do some measuring before you start and make notes or draw pictures so everything fits together. And be sure to send a picture to this board when you get it done!

If you had enough fabric you could do a 4-patch posey. I did one with large roses & framed each 4-patch with a solid color coordinating frame. It turned out great!

I agree with lclang. It would look very nice with a center medallion. Google "medallion quilts" and you will see examples that might give you ideas.

I looked up medallion on the net. They are beautiful. I need a pattern that is easier than easy. I enjoy quilting. I just don't have the colors & finished quilt vision in my head. I suppose I will learn.
