I have a pattern that involves cutting and piecing a lot of small pieces of fabric. I'd like to trace a section of the pattern and turn it into a paper pieced pattern. Has anyone ever converted a pattern this way? Any suggestions as to how to do it?

Yup. I've made my own paper pieces. Mine was a diamond pattern (for a lone star) and I drew the pattern with a ruler and a very fine felt tip, made sure it was *perfect* then made a bunch of copies on the copy machine. I then used only the copies (not the original) to piece. I just used regular copy paper.

This might help you. She has a pdf on converting patterns to paper piecing. Scroll about half way down.

I believe Carol Doak has a tutorial on making your own paper piecing pattern.

I do it by drawing it on graph paper and then deciding where to make the lines. Then I start in the middle and kind of go in a circle to number the pieces.
