Do you mean CRICUT cutter?

I am very confused by this product. One of their websites say you can use it for quilting and another says you should only use it for paper. If anyone has any info on this product I sure would like to know.

I have no clue. I have a friend who has one and she uses it for scrapbooking (paper)

I saw the info commercial too. The new Cricut Expession is supposed to be able to cut fabric and vinyl. The machine runs in the $300+ range (I think), comes with 2 style cartridges. I can't remember how much the extra cartridges are. Here is the link to thier website:

A friend has the Cricut Expressions machine. It will cut fabric but the fabric has to be stabilized. She uses freezer paper or fusible. It will cut one layer of fabric. She uses it for fabric letters and applique shapes. It's a really nice machine.

Quilter's Newsletter Magazine recommends the machine for applique. I read the review of the machine written there a few months ago.

Its only the one' expression' that cuts fabric ?. I only saw the lAST PART WHERE THEY SHOWED A QUILT WITH LEAVES APPLIQUED

I saw the infomercial too. It looked intriguing but is it worth the price. Til I hear from someone who has one I don't think I will buy one.

I've been oogeling the Cricut Expression too and I can't decide if I want it for the sake of having it (it seems such a "cool gadget") or if I want it because I want to make appliqued quilts.

I wonder if they have THE pattern I want to use when I get ready, or if I will have to "settle" for something from their design. (Scrapbooking is not my forte).

It is a lot of money (even on sale) to get a cool gadget just to have it collect dust. (That is what the treadmill is for after all - lol).

Feel free to tell me to save my money. I think that's what I need to hear. Gotta stop obsessing!

Someone on this board sent me a magazine about using the Cricut for cutting fabric. It seemed like a lot of work what with starching and pressing and then cutting the fabric.

Then someone else said they used their cricut with heat and bond attached to it. I tried and mangled a piece of fabric.

I love my cricut for scrapbooking. ADORE it. But I won't be trying the fabric again.

I would put the money toward a Go die cut machine. It's not that much more and the appliqué dies can be used to cut four to six at a time. In fact 12 new dies were added this month. I'm getting the Drunkard Paths's die, I pre ordered it so it should be here any day now.

This machine also needs the cartridges the shape your going to cut. The cartridges run about 90.00 alone, but the machine is upwards of 400 dollars. for this price you could just buy the Accuquilt cutter and a few dies!

I have one and I made my DD a sweatshirt with it. Both the Expresion and the smaller one will cut fabric. It is a bit of a pain but it worked well. I think cutting the paper and using that as a pattern is more logical.

Looks like I will investigate GO and Accuquilt.

My auntie has the Cricut Expersions machine and uses it for quilting, she swaers by it. She bought the fabric blade for it to be able to cut fabrics she also uses the paper blade for scrapbooking.

What fabric blade? I haven't heard of a special blade just for fabric.

Also, I have one cartridge I paid about $50 for but the rest haven't cost me any more than $40 or so but mostly less. No one I know pays $90 for a cartridge. They were on sale at Michaels for about $33 last week.

She says the blade cost her $40.

It's not a cricut brand blade. They only make 2 kinds of blades-one is the standard and one is a deep cut blade made for cutting chipboard. And neither one is that expensive-wow! Everyone I know that cuts fabric just uses the regular blade and that's what cricut recommends too.
