I am totally confused with what a crumb is. Is it the tiny corner that is trimmed off of triangles? If so how are they attached or sewn to result in a block? Thanks, Coco

I think crumbs are just scraps which are too small to be used as conventional pieces, so probably smaller than 1", any shape.

Your little snippitts left over. Tiny pieces you would throw away. Most people save those.

Crumbs can be any size. Mostly they're just random sizes and shapes of scraps.

they can be the corner triangles, or any other little piece of scrap fabric, it is easiest to use a foundation when working with small scraps, i usually cut muslin into 12-13" squares and sew my crumbs in the stitch and flip technique to the foundation, when the foundation is covered i trim and square it to about a 10 1/2" block...and those strips i cut off, if they are 1" or wider i set them aside then sew them together to make more crumb/string blocks.

Like has been said, it is those really small left over scraps.

Here we put them in bags and then the quilters for the Humane Society use them for stuffing in pet beds.
